Peak Academy. Southern Suburbs private school with 84 learners. Eighty. Four. That is not a school, that is a WhatsApp group that got out of hand. You know that one braai where only nine people actually pitch up but someone still calls it "the function"? That is Peak Academy. The whole school could fit in a Spur on a Tuesday night and still have tables left over. But okay, 12 teachers for 84 kids, that is a 7 to 1 ratio. Seven kids per teacher. SEVEN. Your teacher knows your name, your surname, your mother's name, what you had for lunch, and exactly why your homework is not done. There is nowhere to hide. Forget bunking behind the tuck shop, bru. There IS no tuck shop crowd. You ARE the crowd. You cannot even get lost in the corridors because there are not enough of you to get lost with. And the name, Peak Academy. Peak. As in the top. As in the summit. Very bold for a school in the Southern Suburbs where the actual peak, Table Mountain, is just sitting there being a whole national landmark and not charging school fees. They called it Peak Academy like they needed to motivate themselves every single morning just to open the gate. Overall verdict: Tiny, intense, and slightly exhausting, but with a teacher-to-learner ratio that means you actually might pass matric, so respect where respect is due.
