Okay so Hoërskool Wesvalia in Klerksdorp, Wilkoppies side. Wilkoppies. Even the name sounds like the town gave up halfway through a geography assignment. You are out there in the North West, far from the mountain, far from the sea, far from anything really, just you and the dust and 943 kids trying to figure out what to do with their lives in a place where the biggest Friday night activity is probably watching the robots change colour. Now listen, 44 educators for 943 learners, that is a 21.4 to 1 ratio. Your teacher was not teaching a class, they were addressing a small nation. You could disappear in the back row for three years and nobody would notice until Matric registration. The one educator is basically just crowd control. Jy weet hoe is dit, the moment load shedding hit, that classroom became a wildlife documentary. But here is where it gets interesting. One hundred percent Matric pass rate. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. In the North West. With 21 kids per teacher. No boarding facilities, no fancy campus description, just a straightforward school in Wilkoppies doing the actual work while private schools in the Southern Suburbs are charging R50k a year and writing three paragraphs about their "holistic ethos." Wesvalia did not even bother with a fancy description because the results speak loudly enough. Overall verdict: Looks like nothing from the outside, hits like a freight train on results day, basically the Klerksdorp braai that somehow produced the best wors.
