Wonderboom. The name alone is doing too much. "Wonder" plus "boom" like the school named itself after the moment someone saw the electricity bill and their jaw dropped. This is a public school in Pretoria, which means the fees are at least affordable, but with 1086 learners and only 55 teachers, your educator was basically running a small township meeting every lesson. Nearly 20 kids per teacher, jy weet hoe is dit, that teacher called your name maybe twice a year and one of those times was because you were blocking the projector. But here is the thing that is actually unhinged. A 98.4% matric pass rate. At a public school. In Pretoria. With one teacher basically herding 20 kids like a taxi rank attendant trying to fill a minibus. That is not a school, that is a factory and it is running day shift, night shift, and somehow also load shedding shift. Whatever they are putting in the tuck shop pap, it is working. The co-ed setup means the drama was always free and always theatrical, and with over a thousand learners on campus you needed a GPS just to find the bathroom. Pretoria heat plus 1086 teenagers in one place is a sensory experience that no one is fully ready for. Overall verdict: Wonderboom sounds like it was named by someone who had never seen a tree, but with a pass rate like that, this school is genuinely carrying Gauteng on its back and deserves its flowers.
