Garsfontein, Pretoria. The school that looks you dead in the eye and says "100% matric pass rate" like they are not just 1949 kids crammed into one building trying to find a bathroom before the bell rings. Nearly two thousand learners and 103 teachers, so your ratio is basically 19 kids fighting over one educator's attention like it is the last samoosa at the tuck shop. Your teacher is not teaching a class, broe. Your teacher is managing a small township. But that 100% pass rate though. We have to talk about it. Either Garsfontein is genuinely producing the sharpest kids in the Jacaranda City, or someone in admin has been having very productive conversations with the universe every November. Pretoria East parents are walking around Menlyn bragging about this like they personally wrote the exam papers themselves. "Ons skool is die beste," they say, sipping their lattes, not realising their child shares a teacher with 18 other people and probably has not had a proper one-on-one since Grade 8. And listen, it is a public school in Pretoria, which means it survived load shedding, the WCED's distant cousin the GDE, and whatever chaos Garsfontein Road throws at the school run every single morning. That deserves some respect honestly. Overall verdict: Garsfontein is basically a small city that somehow gets everyone through matric, which is either a miracle or a flex, and honestly both are valid.
