Okay so "Generation School Hermanus" already sounds like a life coach named it while standing on a rock watching the whales. And then they had the nerve to describe themselves as "a beacon of excellence on the serene coastline." Broe, you are in Hermanus. The main activity there is watching whales and eating bad fish and chips on the harbour. Every school in Hermanus is on the serene coastline, that is not a flex, that is just geography. Now let us talk about the fees because wow. Grade R, your child cannot even tie their own shoes yet, and you are already paying R42,420 a year. By Grade 12 you are at R84,109, and for what? For 299 learners and 29 teachers in what they call a "boutique campus." Boutique. They actually wrote boutique. That means small and they want you to feel good about it. There are 10 kids per teacher, so if your child is not thriving at R84k a year, that teacher needs to be investigated personally. They also said the campus is a "sanctuary for play and learning featuring numerous outdoor spaces." Numerous. In Hermanus. Broe, outside IS the outdoor space. The whole town is an outdoor space. The wind will rearrange your blazer and your life before second period even starts. Overall verdict: A gorgeous little school that will empty your bank account faster than a Hermanus parking attendant on a long weekend, but your kid probably gets actual attention and whale sightings during break.
