And right there in the heart of it sits Ed-U-College Combined School, a name so committed to looking clever that they put hyphens in it like punctuation is a personality. Ed. U. College. We get it. Education. You did not have to hyphenate it three times to prove a point, broe. Now 1130 learners, 44 educators, that is a 25.7 to 1 ratio. Meaning your teacher is basically doing a braai for the whole street and hoping everyone gets a piece of wors. You raising your hand for help and the teacher is still busy with the kids from two rows ago who asked a question in Term 1. The tuck shop queue has better odds than getting one-on-one attention in that classroom. BUT. And this is a big but. 100% matric pass rate. One hundred. Percent. In Witbank. With 25 kids per teacher. While load shedding is probably cutting the lights mid-exam. That is not a school result, that is a flex. Whatever they are doing in those overcrowded classrooms, it is clearly working, hyphens and all.
