Bra, that is not a school, that is one very tired person and four of their colleagues trying not to make eye contact when the principal walks in. One teacher is sitting there looking at 51 kids like a taxi driver who already said "one more" four times in a row and somehow the taxi is still moving. Listen, 51 learners to one educator. That ratio is not a classroom, that is a stadium event. The teacher is not marking homework, the teacher is crowd controlling. You raise your hand to ask a question and by the time she gets to you, you have already figured it out, given up, finished Grade 7, and started a small business selling fat cakes outside. The government said no fees and then forgot to also send, you know, teachers. But here is the thing, these kids show up every day in Nebo with zero fees and maximum chaos and they are still there, still learning, still going. That actually takes something. The school is basically running on vibes and one whiteboard marker that is almost dry. Overall verdict: Leduma Mahume is less of a school and more of a social experiment in how few adults it takes to run a small nation, but the fact that those kids pitch up anyway makes it lowkey one of the most real schools in the country.
