Esther Maleka Comprehensive in Marble Hall, Limpopo. Marble Hall sounds like it should be a fancy mansion with chandeliers and a butler, but we all know it's giving more "we share one textbook between four learners" energy. The name says comprehensive, but with 19 teachers handling 473 kids, the only thing that's comprehensive is the chaos. That's basically one teacher per small army. Ma'am is not teaching, she is managing a crowd situation. Twenty-five kids per teacher, every single day. You think load shedding is stressful? Imagine being one of those 19 educators trying to mark 473 scripts by candlelight while the principal is in a "meeting." Jy weet hoe is dit. Someone's geography class is definitely just the teacher pointing at the board and saying "read pages 45 to 60 quietly" while they go sit in the staffroom. But here's the thing, 81.5% matric pass rate with those numbers is actually not bad at all. Those kids and teachers are grinding with very little and still getting results. Respect where it's due. Overall verdict: Esther Maleka Comprehensive is understaffed, overcrowded, and located somewhere that sounds fancier than it is, but that 81.5% pass rate means these kids are built different and the teachers deserve a bonus they will probably never see.
