Each teacher has got 27 learners to manage, mark, motivate, and probably also fix the photocopier and coach the netball team. These people are not educators, they are superheroes in school shoes. And it is a no-fee school, which means the government is footing the bill, which also means load shedding hit the budget before it hit the classrooms. No tuck shop selling gatsby slices here, just pure grit and textbooks that have seen four different matric classes before yours. But you know what, somehow, SOMEHOW, every single child who sat for matric walked out with a pass. One hundred percent. Not 98, not 99 point something. One hundred. With eleven teachers. In Kgautswane. Let that sink in while Bishops is out here spending forty grand a term and still producing kids who cannot parallel park emotionally. This school has no fees, a skeleton crew of educators, and a matric pass rate that would make the WCED cry into their spreadsheets. Somewhere in Limpopo, eleven teachers looked at the odds and said, not today. Overall verdict: Looks like nothing on paper, but hits harder than a Bafana Bafana upset, and honestly, we stan.
