Trubel Primary School. Even the NAME is telling you something. The school is literally called TRUBEL. That is not a name, that is a warning. Before you even get to the gate, the school has already confessed. Your parents dropped you off at a place that named itself after trouble and thought nobody would notice. Belvedere, KwaZulu-Natal. Not exactly the address you brag about at a braai, but okay, we move. Now let us talk about these numbers because they are doing the MOST. 551 kids. 15 teachers. That ratio comes out to 36.7 learners per educator. Thirty. Six. Point. Seven. That teacher is not teaching a class, that teacher is managing a small township. By the time the teacher gets to your desk, you have already raised yourself, written your own report card, and started a small business selling chips at the back. One teacher for nearly 37 kids in a primary school is not education, that is a survival challenge. Eskom could never stress one person out this much. And this is a public school in KwaZulu-Natal, so we KNOW the government support is arriving on the same schedule as load shedding, which means sometimes yes, mostly no, and always at the worst possible moment. Overall verdict: Trubel Primary is basically the school version of a minibus taxi, way over capacity, no seatbelts, somehow still getting people where they need to go, and you will have stories for life.
